Kien Lee Appointed to Statewide Commission on the Impact of Immigrants
Local Immigration specialist (researcher) appointed by Gov. O’Malley to 3-year Immigration Commission
Gaithersburg, MD - Kien Lee, principal associate of Community Science, a Maryland -based research firm specializing in community and systems change, was appointed to a new statewide commission to Study the Impact of Immigrants in Maryland. This three-year, eight-member body will study the impact of immigrants in Maryland, including a study of the demographic profile, and the economic and fiscal impacts of immigration.
“I’m honored to be appointed to such as a mission driven commission. For years I have been researching various aspects of immigration and immigrant integration and this gives me a platform to have some true impact and change. Everyday, Community Science helps build the capacity of communities to assess and solve its problems. Change is necessary in our ongoing struggle for equity and justice and I’m thrilled that Governor O’Malley understands that.
Throughout the three-year period, Lee will be blogging on the commission and its findings. Please check back periodically for more information.
